AbstractThe purpose of the present study was to clarify and describe what image men and women present and communicate in their profiles on an online dating site. Further has been investigated if traditional gender roles and stereotypes are as pronounced on this online platform or if it offers a space to go beyond traditional formations. The theoretical framework of this study consisted of a social psychological idea and understanding of identity as well as a gender theoretical perspective. The methodological points of departure were hermeneutic and the data consisted of ten male and ten female member profiles on match.com. The results of the study was divided into three themes, the emphasis on positive qualities, the attractive body and project manager to one?s own life.

My study is focused on one organization with is Unicef, the organization that is workning on a UN mission. The mission is about children's rights and Unicef has brought children's actions since 1946.The purpose of this essay was to research whether the images can be used alone or as a complement to the text that the communication organizations use. By examining the way images are used, I hoped to be able to deduce the results of image use. I study if the effect out messages with only pictures will be more effective than the message in which the verbal mixed with the non-verbal.Theoretical part of this essay has a communication perspective. The essay is structure by tree elements, non-verbal communication, mass communication and intercultural communication.

The internet has fundamentally changed the way people communicate. With all the information that we are sharing over the internet, and the ways which companies want to use our information, the importance of keeping our private information secure has increased. This thesis aims to discover what attitudes internet users have against privacy on the internet, and what ? if anything ? they are doing to protect their personal privacy.We distributed an online survey to internet users in the Stockholm area, and conducted three interviews with persons in our target population. The results of these studies show that people in general are very aware of privacy concerns on the internet, but that their attitudes toward how important personal privacy on the internet is, differ somewhat..

This study is based on an examination of students? habits of using the Internet in formal and informal environments. The focus within this study is on what kind of activities students use the Internet for and how and if their teacher connect the students actual usage of the Internet to base the education in school on it. What we have discovered in this report is that the student in this examination uses the Internet as a tool for communicative and entertaining purposes. Though, the use of the Internet is different depending on which physical environment it is situated in.

The purpose of this study was to investigate whether social counselling via chat conversations could meet the criteria for a professional conversation, and how the six social workers who were interviewed felt that it had affected the profession and the clients who are seeking their help.Communication, professionality, power, roles and regions are the key topics of this study. A hermeneutic approach has not only influenced the interviews but also the content analysis that was used to encode the results.The interviews revealed that the chat conversations was a successful tool but not entirely without difficulties. The initial contact making between the client and the social worker favours the client, since she/he remains anonymous and that was the main advantage of the method. The biggest concern however was that in the anonymity it is not possible to report cases that the social worker are obligated to. The changing of forum does not necessarily affect the professionality but due to the faceless chat conversation an entire dimension of communication disappears because the loss of body language.

The usage of internet is growing significantly every year in today?s society and whether you like or not, the internet has an influence in your life. It is therefore important to find out how people are affected by its use. We have through our study interviewed a number of people that uses internet on a day to day basis, who have agreed to live without internet access for a period of time. We started out by interviewing these people about their internet usage and what it means to them, then proceeded with their non-internet access period.

The aim of this master thesis was to find out about librarians opinions of childrens libraries on the Internet, if it is a resource to reach children. Qualitative interviews were conducted with three librarians who had participated in the construction and development of childrens libraries on the Internet. Föreliggande undersökning innehåller en intervjustudie med sex lärare som handlar om Internet i SO-undervisningen. De intervjuade lärarna består av två kategorier lärare, dels är det lärare som använder Internet i sin SO-undervisning dels är detlärare som valt att inte använda Internet i sin SO-undervisning. Studien belyser vilka argument som ligger bakom varför eller varför inte lärare väljer att använda Internet i sin undervisning. En ny typ av mobbning har börjat tillämpas på grund av uppkomsten av, och den allmänna tillgången till, Internet: nämligen elektroniks mobbning (Wendland refererad i Raskauskas & Stoltz, 2007). För att kunna bekämpa elektronisk mobbning är det viktigt att förstå varför Internet används vid mobbning. Syftet med detta examensarbete var att undersöka bakgrunden till varför ungdomar idag använder sig av Internet vid mobbning. De frågeställningar som ingick var: Vad finns det för orsaker till att Internet används för mobbning? Hur används Internet vid mobbning? Vilka former av mobbning förekommer via Internet? För att kunna besvara frågeställningarna genomfördes en enkätundersökning med 58 tredjeårselever vid Luleå Gymnasieby.

Syftet är att undersöka hur en urvald grupp ungdommar ser på sitt eget sociala liv på internet.Materialet till arbetet består av 20 semistrukturerade intervjuer med ungdomar i åldrar 17 till 19.Teorin innefattar indentiet och globalisering.Resulatetet tyder på att internet fungerar som en förstärkning av respondenternas befintliga sociala nätverk. Respondenterna är starkt förankrade i deras lokala miljö. Den främst textbaserade interaktion respondenterna bedriver via internet är inget substitut för deras sociala interaktion i den fysiska verkligheten. Internet har erbjudit respondenterna ett träningsfält för deras identitetsutveckling. .
